Mummy Sausages

  1. 4 Evergood sausages (chicken chorizo, smoked bratwurst, linguica, cheddar link sausages)
  2. Pot of water
  3. Pizza dough or store-bought puff pastry
  4. Egg wash – 1 egg beaten with 2 teaspoons water
  5. Eyes – Mayonnaise and pepper or chocolate bits
  6. Tomato ketchup

If making pizza dough instead of buying pastry:

  1. 180ml warm water (37°C)
  2. 1 teaspoon dry yeast
  3. 250g plain flour
  4. ½ teaspoon salt
  5. 1 teaspoon sugar
  6. 3 tablespoons olive oil

  1. Bring pot of water to boil. Add sausages and simmer for 8-10 minutes.
  2. Remove and cool the sausages.
  3. Meanwhile, roll out pastry and cut into 1 cm long strips.
  4. Roll pastry strips around sausage, leaving room for the ‘eyes’.
  5. Brush pastry with egg wash.
  6. Bake in pre-heated oven of 180°C for 15-20 minutes
  7. Create eyes with mayonnaise and pepper/chocolate bits.
  8. Squirt tomato ketchup on pastry.

If making pizza dough instead of buying pastry:

  1. Mix yeast with warm water and let stand till yeast dissolves, about 5 minutes
  2. Combine flour, salt and sugar in a food processor
  3. Add oil and yeast mixture to flour mixture and process until dough forms a sticky ball.
  4. Transfer to lightly floured surface and knead till dough is smooth, adding more flour if necessary,
  5. Transfer dough to a lightly greased bowl. Turn dough in down to coat with oil. Cover with cling wrap and let dough rise till doubled in volume (about 45 minutes).
  6. Punch down dough and roll out.
